how do you rate the n1 compared to the n2

Well, the most obvious difference is in the sensor. The N2 has 10 megapixels, while the N1 has 8. Frankly, the difference is not that big of a deal. Plus, the N1 also has a large amount of internal memory, making it useful as a portable photo album.

I don't think you'd have much trouble if you went with the N1. It's a great camera and cheaper than the N2.

One point you may wish to consider is that the N2 has the Optical Super SteadyShot facility. I don't think this is on the N1. I am looking at a new camera and it is a close decision between the N2 and the T10. Latter might just be a little too small though!!

That's right, the N1 does not have IS.

Also JJ, you might want to check out the new Pentax T20.
