The Olympus Stylus 740 is a great new camera that is waterproof up to 3meters. Besides that feature it also has 5x optical zoom and a nice 7+megapixel sensor. This makes it an all around great camera for the price whether it went underwater or not. But luckily it does it all.

There is another scuba camera that I have heard of but it doesnt come very highly recommend. The Sealife DC500 great concept sadly it seems to leave something to be desired. Check out the reviews though. Clearly the Olympus is the best route. Powerful camera, small waterproof package.

There are 3 choices when buying an underwater camera. Option 1 is spend $100, and get a cheap 35mm. Option 2 is to go with a mid-range digital, like the DC500. Option 3 is to buy a high-end digital SLR, a housing and a strobe. Option 3 will run you about $2500. Regardless, make sure to get an external strobe. Any built-in flashs will not be strong enough to give good results.
