Prolonged judder & flashing bars

At switch on my A100 produces a prolonged judder and 4/5 flashing bars on the right hand side - it still works! Any ideas?

The Flashing bars refers to the Super SteadyShot image stabilization feature. It flashes to let you know that you need to engage the Steadyshot IS for a better photo. There's a button on the back, towards the bottom to activate it. See page 14 of your READ THIS FIRST pamphlet.
