can date show on downloaded picture

Can the option be set for the date to show on downloaded pictures? I could do this with my previous Sony but not with the Canon Rebel I now have.

According to the specs, it does.

As for why the Rebel doesn't, it's fallen out of favor in some cameras in favor of other options or smaller, lighter designs. Also, as the digital file is marked by a date and time when it's saved, the use of a date stamp feature in digital cameras has lost popularity amongst camera manufacturers as a feature.

I'm sorry I was not more clear. However, what I want to know is will the Sony A350 SLR or Sony A300 date stamp the picture like my previous Sony did. My present Canon will not and I want to purchase a camera that will.

I understand your point completely. But according to SONY specs, it has the date stamp option, so that's a good thing. But it shouldn't be your deciding factor if choosing a SONY. IMHO, Sony doesn't hold a candle to that Canon or Nikon chiefly because of the glass.

But I'll get some disagreement on that from others here. My point was that many camera manufacturers are dropping date stamp as a feature.

There are software options though, to add it - Check out MAGTIME - http://www.filedudes.com/MagiTime-download-43977.html it's an application which adds date/time to the picture. But beware, once you do it, it can't be undone.
