Well, Digital Review looks at it this way:

In reality, taking into account the limitations of the Sony Clear Photo LCD monitor coupled with the fact that in Live View mode the continuous shooting rate on the A350 / A300 drops down to 2 fps, we found the Sony Alpha A350 Quick AF Live View feature did not lend itself very well to capturing these action situations.

So, as long as you're not tied to the Quick AF Live View feature, you should be okay.

One of the reason I wanted to upgrade to a dslr was to take better pictures of my husband marathon running and to take pictures of our youth group doing things like the rides at alton towers theme park . Had used my fuji 9600 previously whilst got some great quality pictures, it was much slower and I quite often didn't get quite the shot I was hoping for...........OK marathon running isn't that fast but two weeks ago got amazing shots of him in a half marathon...but it really came into its own this week at alton towers, the continual shooting at 3fms/second was brilliant, endless shots of the kids without cutting heads off or being so blurred they were un recognisable as they zipped around the rides...for this I just put it auto and let it go...really pleased.
