The Sony Alpha series has the Minolta A mount system, therefore, all Minolta AF lenses will be usable on the Sony Alpha.

Other manufacturers ( Sigma/Tokina/Tamron etc. ) lenses that use the A mount system ( i.e. designed for Minolta usage ) will be usable on the Alpha.

I own a 5000-i and purchased the A300. My old lenses fit the new the new camera. I also own a 80mm to 205mm lense that does not fit. It's a Super ALBINAR lense. I don't know if there is a coverter for the lense or should I just buy a type A lense. Thanks.

I'm just not a fan of using converters. There's way too many trade-offs of slowing down the lens as well as losing some clarity. And in this age of eBay, you're really far better off selling your lens and getting the right lens for the camera.
