my memory stick has lost its formatting How and why I hav pics on it

was working ok yesterday , I did not download pics from yesterday and today it has no formatting If I reformat I will lose pics I took yesterday

There are dozens of format recovery utilities for memory cards. An easy google will find a few. One I found was called F-Recovery. Once you recover the formatting, you should be able to get your pictures and then reformat the picture.

but it may also be that the card isn't correctly "seated" into the camera. Try removing it and then putting it back in completely. That may help.
