How true is the issue of the Sony memory stick being obsolete with new Vista laptops...?

Are the Sony Memory chips compatible with a new Vista laptop? and how large a memory stick can i purchase?

Probably not obsolete, per se, just that there isn't a vista driver to recognize it. Give it some time, I'm sure either Microsoft or more likely Sony is working on it. Meanwhile, you may want to try accessing it in compatibility mode and see if that works.
