My LCD has suddenly changed to monochrome. Images are in green tones. What has happened and what is the cure?

While I was taking some photos my Sony DSC-F717 LCD image began transitioning through some pastel colors. The transitioning ended with images that are monochrome green-tones. The photos themselves are fine. What has happened? What is the "cure."

Your camera is victim of a faulty CCD. Sony has issued a service advisory about this. Sony Digital Still Cameras that incorporate an image sensor device, CCD Chip, manufactured from October 2002 through March 2004 may exhibit the following condition:

When the Digital Still Camera is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder will show either a distorted image or no image.

Sony has elected to offer a free repair to the owners of applicable Digital Still Cameras if the image sensor device, CCD chip, causes one of the above-mentioned conditions. Accordingly, customers who have a Sony Digital Still Camera may contact SONY to arrange a repair.

Is there a link that You could direct me to regarding repair? Apparently, Sony wants to keep this on the down-low, and I just want a camera that works...

Thanks

Contact Sony's Customer Support Center for further assistance. Reference the faulty CCD chip issue. No service forms or mailing addresses are provided on the Sony US site. Rather, owners are instructed to contact the Sony Customer Information Services Center for further assistance at 1-866-703-7669.
