LCD Problems on DSC-F717

So, I have had a few problems with my camera in the past fews days. First, someone turned the Hotshoe on, and I couldn't figure out what was up with the flash until I looked online, so that's fixed. But immediately when I fixed that, the LCD and the Viewfinder stopped showing all red colors, but the camera still takes good pictures.. Now, I have already sent my camera in to have the CCD fixed on it (black screen), has this problem reoccurred? If so, has anybody had any luck with sending it in a second time, and not having to pay for it?

Did you try simply resetting the camera? This is a fairly easy procedure which involves either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset" (or intialize), holding down the menu key for 5 seconds, or, removing the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you should have the camera reset to factory default settings.

Another tip is to go to Sony's website and look for firmware updates. Download and install them. WHile you're there, you can also check for service advisories on defective CCD chips. Sony had a rash of them a few years back in some models. This thread talks about it and the last notation is that SONY should fix it for free.

Well, I'd send it back since the problem is persisting. Although, it may just be corrupted firmware that a simple hard boot reset can cure.
