Flash will not pop up at all.

The only flash selections are 'forced' or 'no flash'. The flash does not pop up in dark scenes.

Try initializing (or resetting) the camera. I'd also check with Sony for a firmware update. If neither of those restore auto flash function, it may need to be repaired.
