Fixing Cybershoot DSC F717's CCD

I bough this camera in August 2003 and the broke on March 2005. Now is October 2009 and I took the camera out of the bo where I kept it and think about repair it. I learn in internet that the problem is a faulty CCD sensor, a common problem in these cameras. I plan to try it to fix it myself since is old and I don't think Sony would offer to repair it. Does anyone knows where I can buy a new CCD and the model I should buy? I will appreciate your help.

If it's a faulty CCD sensor, I'd contact SONY about a factory recall. There was a bad batch of CCDs a few years back which prompted a recall to repair them. And according to the service advisory, your camera was one of the models that got stuck with a bad Chip. The good news is, Sony is repairing them at NO COST. Contact them right away.
