Also, I did re-set the camera, tried all four of my memory sticks, removed and replaced the battery. Re-charged the camera. Tested all four memory sticks on my son's DSC-MI camera. Camera states to me: No Memory Stick when the sticks are in place properly.

Thank you for all advise to my camera problem.

You could also try seeing if there's a new firmware update. That will often solve issues like this and extend the life of your camera.
But, at that age it's probably overdue for a good servicing.

And it's important to understand that without warranty coverage the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

James, thank you so much. What I did was take a fine little brush that is attached to a thin plastic wand and gave a gentle sweep thru the Memory Stick spot and that fixed the problem. Camera still works fine again, recording and play back.

I am compelled to state that I am old and don't want to learn a new camera. I will stick with what I know and comfortable with. My kids understand this about me.

My other cybershot needs a new light bulb for the flash however. We have 3 of the same camera. Thanks again!!
