I own this camera and the main problem with mine is that the LCD screen is blank for 5-7 seconds after I take a picture.

I am not sure if it has to do anything with my camera settings. Is it to do anything with the shutter speed or flash settings. The pictures also come out very shaky. It is frustating to wait to take another picture as the screen is blank. We miss some nice moments in the mean time.

Hi Chandra,
At first I was going to suggest it could be buffer delay, which is the time it takes for the picture you've just taken to be written to the memory card, but that would just be too long a period so I don't think it can be that even if you were taking pictures at their maximum resolution.

According to your manual, this camera has a "power save" function, which turns the screen off while the flash is being charged. You could try turning the power save feature to "off" and see if that makes a difference. (Mode dial to "setup" then select the power save function.)

Apart from this, there appears to be a bit of a recurring problem with this camera that other people have also experienced. If you read through the list of reviews here you will see that others have had a problem with their screen and also with blurred images.

This may be useful if the screen gives up altogether:
"The camera worked great. Suddenly without warning LCD died.
But all you need to do is go to http://esupport.sony.com/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=118&mdl=DSCP10. At this site you will receive info on sending your camera back to Sony for free repair including S&H. I have not sent mine out yet, but it looks promising. You have until Oct. 2 2007 to do this. There was a lawsuit and everything filed against Sony. Check out the website."

Regarding image quality, 1 user reported that in auto mode the ISO was set too low which results in a slower shutter speed. Try manually changing the ISO to a higher sensitivity of 100. This will result in a quicker shutter speed and sharper pictures.

Check your user manual and try different settings to see if that helps.

Good luck,
Mark
