Well, you'll need to contact SONY to get an estimate. Be advised, however, that since it's out of warranty, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what
you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

You can download a copy of the manual at Sony's Support website.

This may sound weird, but...
If the screen has black spots or has gone completely black, try rubbing it. Put a little pressure on it and rub the black areas around, try with your thumbs. I did this on my Pentax A10 after cracking the screen and was able to move the black areas enough to the edges that I could read the menus again. That's the magic of Liquid Crystal Displays... since it's liquid, it can be rearranged with enough influence. Move the dead crystals around and try to push them out of the way or at least dilute them with the good crystals.
My screen even went completely black at one point but I pressed around in different areas and it woke up again. It's ugly, but it's functional.
Check the following screenshots and look at the black area just above the Pentax name... you can see that it can be moved around.
The black area used to be large and right through the center of the LCD around the cracks.

Certainly worth a try if the camera is out of warranty. But if it isn't, I'd steer clear as it may void whatever warranty you have left.

Quite true. Definately give warranty a try. Though with some companies, certain repairs will cost a lot even if the camera is under warranty. Often a cracked LCD is considered the users fault and not covered by warranty. Still, don't do anything to void the warranty on the rest of the camera.

In my case, I had forgotten the camera was in my pocket while doing emergency roadside repair on my car. It was obvious the LCD was broken due to 'abuse' and would have cost $100 for Pentax to repair it. The A10 was only worth $200 brand new at that point. I had already purchased an Optio A30 so I didn't really care about the warranty on the A10 anymore. I was talking about it with a friend when out of curiosity I started pressing on the LCD. I noticed a change and then continued to press it around until everything dark was pushed out of the middle. Until then I was planning on getting a broken A10 with a good LCD off ebay and would attempt the surgery myself. I still use it regularly for when I don't want to use a more expensive camera, like helping my brother build his deck etc.

Thus the reason why it was short sighted on the part of camera makers to take out the viewfinder, IMHO. But if you have nothing to lose, it couldn't hurt to try that workaround.
