This means that there's not enough light for the camera to set a shutter speed fast enough to take a sharp picture. You'll need more light, or to get closer to the subject (so flash would work).

It means there is a strong likelihood of camera shake because the shutter speed is slow. You can avoid this problem by turning the flash on. Or you can use tripod.

The 'waving hand' doesn't go away, regardless of the light conditions. Canon A570IS. Now what? Camera is only 6o days old.
