My camera has worked fine for over a year. Now I notice a burn dot in the middle of my view. Did something go bad?

Does this affect the phots at all? Pixels in LCD screens do go bad, and it's possible that it was exposed to sunlight while being placed on a dashboard or near a window. Depending on your warranty, you may be able to have it repaired under warranty. What I would do is check with Sony to see if there are any product recall advisories on bad LCD screens and perhaps they will repair it for you. Absent that, sending it off for repair to get an estimate and then deciding if it's worth it to fix is still a good idea. If it costs north of 50% what you paid to fix, you're better off just buying a new one.

But if you aren't experiencing problems with the pictures it takes, you can also simply live with it.
