I have a sony cybershot 4.1 mega pixels which turns off as soon as I try to turn it on.

I have this camera for a while and recently when I try to turn it on it immediately turns off. If I change it to view pictures then it stays on. Can anyone tell me what to do? I changed the batteries to new ones, but still doesn't work.

Thank you for taking your time! Peace!

Well, the camera is fairly long in the tooth age wise. And around that time Sony, and other camera makers who used Sony CCDs, were suffering from a faulty design which prompted a recall. You could check that. But to be honest, the camera needs to be replaced or repaired. And if it isn't a faulty CCD, then it's probably not worth repairing. The average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

Before taking drastic action though, you can try the following - reinitialize the camera to reload the firmware and restore the camera to factory settings; download and install any firmware updates; and lastly, clean your battery contacts with a pencil eraser.
