Battery Problems
(dekokspam - 8/9/06)This was my first digital camera, shot well over 5,000 images with it since May 2003. Many wonderful shots. Lots of options for a compact. Got some good use out of the video too.
Some of the drawbacks: as with many compacts, the flash feature strobes too much in any setting, making it difficult to capture anything well indoors. I took a lot of indoor shots without flash and just learned how to hold still and/or position subjects in the best lighting possible. The shutter lag is also a bit long, with or without flash.
As for the batteries, I think the internal battery sensor was poorly designed or something, as I've read many comments now about this... it goes through new AA's very quickly, and the rechargeables always seem to drain out too quickly after charging (less than 20 shots later). I verified this by purchasing a battery tester and finding out that all the new AA's that my camera told me were drained actually had 80% of their capacity left!! I've had some problems with the camera locking up too, with error message more recently. *sigh* guess it's time to give this one up, and kiss Sony cameras goodbye...
