Sony DSC-P72 will not reset, take pics and with a frozen display showing.

My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P72 has a frozen display on the LCD display. It took new Pics while this old pic remained on the LCD. Recently it stopped taking pics. You hear it boot and the lens comes out but no light shows it's ready nor will it take a pic or reset. Plus, the mode selector makes no changes.

AS stated in the previous question, this model suffers from a faulty CCD chip. Contact SONY for repair/replacement. http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/news/articles/story_4743.html

Is the faulty CCD chip something I can ask Sony to send and I install it myself? I have looked inside the camera and worked ribbon cable connections. I had found connection problems in another Sony model just behind my model and got the LCD display back.

Is the faulty CCD chip causing the DSC-P72 not to reset? Is there a removable cmos battery in the DSC-P72? Thanks! Jow

1. The CCD was repaired. Now I feel I have a new problem or a batch of bad Energizer Lithium batteries.

2. DSC-P72 has stopped working with fully charged Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Initially I could shoot approximate 300 + pictures on a pair of Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. Now it’s unpredictable and the batteries show to have good charges. As an experiment, when two fully charged lithium’s failed with less than 10 shots. I used 2 alkaline batteries @ .50 per pair and shot at least 100 pictures before they failed. The lithium batteries that fail in the camera will still operate other items. My lithium’s are within the expiration date but about one-year out of the store.

3. How do I add a new post? I get an error message that my e-mail address is already being used. I feel it's my old messages. How do I get around that? I tried to contact the site's provider, but no luck.

Please help me with these matters and thanks in advance. Joe
