Have you taken out the batteries for a few days? Do this and allow the capacitors to drain. Then reinstall and reboot. If that doesn't work, your CCD may have failed. Back then, many models - including yours - suffered from defective CCD chips. If you contact SONY, they may still be repairing them or replacing them at no cost to you.

Please Help More!!

Is the faulty CCD chip something I can ask Sony to send and install it myself?
I have looked inside the camera and worked ribbon cable connections. I had found connection problems in another Sony model just behind my model and got the LCD display back.

Is the faulty CCD chip causing the DSC-P72 not to reset? Is there a removable cmos battery in the DSC-P72? Thanks! Jow
