Hi Phil,

First of all, I'd go to this page and check to see if the problem described there matches your own. If it does, you may be eligible for a free repair from Sony, as they had a very large batch of cameras with the same kind of CCD failures a couple years ago. To make sure this is your problem and to contact Sony's support department, go here or call 1-866-703-7669.

If this problem doesn't match yours, it is probably a problem with the LCD panel itself. Does the screen flash, or does it turn the kind of strange colors described above? Do photos taken with the camera come out strangely, or is it just a problem on the viewing screen? If the problem is with the LCD itself, you'll also have to contact Sony support (or a local camera repair shop), but the repair probably won't be free and will likely cost as much or more than the camera originally cost. Unfortunately, repairing digital cameras is usually a pretty expensive endeavor. Good luck!
