Sony CyberShot DSC-R1 News

Sony Christens DSLR Line 'Alpha'

Sony has finally named their line of Digital SLR's, choosing the greek symbol for 'Alpha' to adorn cameras like the DSC-R1

From Pocket Lint - Apr 24, 2006

Curiously enough, Minolta used the name 'Alpha' for their own SLRs in Japan. Now that they're out of the way, however, Sony is free to appropriate the name, which is unfortunately represented by a symbol that cannot be faithfully replicated by available fonts. You can find out more about the 'Alpha' line from Sony here.

The New Sony CyberShot DSC-R1

This 10.3 megapixel camera uses clever technology to make it one of the smallest digital SLRs available.

From DCHQ - Sep 12, 2005

The Sony CyberShot DSC-R1 grabs a live feed right off the camera's sensor and provides it to the electronic viewfinder, eliminating the need for a complicated mirror box setup. This allows the camera to be much more compact than your average SLR. While more advanced users may be annoyed that the included Carl Zeiss T* lens is not removable, the DSC-R1 would make a great entry-level SLR for those who are looking to make the leap to professional level photography.
