details of the problem with the shutter button

So Ill put everything in only one post. The Problem with the camera is this: Im starting the camera taking 3-4-6 pics and then when a press the shutter button halfway down ( normaly for the focus to focus ) it focuses but when I press the button fullway down it stops ( doesnt take the picture its like normaly viewing throught the lcd or the ovf - monitoring something to photograph without pressing the shutter button ) the camera acts like this in the next couple of pressings 3 4 times and after that its working normal for about the next 10 or 15 pressings of the button and after that the same problem occurs.. this is happening while using the flash and without using the flash and its happening on all of the camera modes ( auto portrait program manual ) and its happening in all light conditions indoors and outdoors on strong and weak lighting.so if you want more details I can provide them for you but these are the detail you asked me to provide..ill give you any details just please help mei want to know is it a button malfunction or software glitch or just the button needs some cleaning - or replacment ( how much will this cost ? ) PLEASE HELP ME

There contacts between the shutter button and the camera are obviously causing an intermittent shutter and that could mean dirt or dust has worked it's way into it and is obstructing the connection on an intermittent basis. Or, you could have a short. Have you tried resetting the camera?

Either way, with it's age, I think you have a case for having the camera repaired. And even though you like the camera, you may need to simply get a new one as the average cost of a camera repair is around $180. As such, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

Well, then I'd hate to say it, but it looks like you'll need to send it in for a repair estimate. It's worth at least finding out how much it is. But chances are, you'll be getting a newer (and better) one.
