I see colored stripes when I focus on object

I took a picture of an object and the printed image was colored stripes.
I have never had this problem before. The camera has been great.

Your camera was one of a host of cameras that suffered from a faulty CCD chip. You should check Sony's website for a service advisory as Sony will replace the bad chip for free regardless of warranty status.

Thank you. I have called Sony and they promised to send me a packing slip to return the camera for repair at no cost.
I have not received the slip yet, called again today and they promised to send it today.
