Your camera may be one of a host of cameras that suffered from a faulty CCD chip where products may become disconnected, especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. If this occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD normally in Shooting Mode, which may cause a distorted image or the absence of an image. This malfunction can be confirmed on the LCD monitor screen during shooting. The same malfunction also appears on the recorded image.

Contact Sony's Customer Support Center for further assistance.

Thank you for your support and patronage of Sony products.

It has come to our attention that a limited number of products, manufactured before March 2004, and incorporating a certain type of image sensor device (CCD), may exhibit the following:

When the product is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder exhibits either a distorted image or no image at all.

We have determined that this only occurs in a limited number of devices, but may be accelerated if they are exposed to hot and humid environments.

Until September 30, 2008, Sony will repair, free of charge, affected products exhibiting the above-mentioned symptom where it is caused by the image sensor device. Sony will also cover the cost of shipping and handling from and to addresses within the United States and US Territories for service to correct this issue.[/quote]
