How long have you owned the camera?
Sometimes this can be a battery malfunction or a firmware update is needed but most of the time I hear about this it is just totally malfuctioning and needs servicing. So give the Firmware download a try and freah batts, but it most likely is something that needs to be done by sending it to Sony for or taken to a camera service shop.
