Great but slightly disappointing
(Rosh - 8/7/06)I spent ages choosing a new camera and decided to choose this one because of its very small form factor, yet high quality lens (Carl Zeiss), and wanting a point and shoot camera its presets were accessible by only one button which helps this. The auto preset is also good enough. The camera takes great pictures, having taken it to the British Motor Show, and also testing it while out and about.
Despite all its features to reduce blur, this is prevalent even in well lit areas. Don't get me wrong only some pictures have blur (i have taken many pictures in the night and most have come out perfect), however for the money i spent on it, and all its anti-blur features, it seem disappointing when you do get blurry pictures.
The main problem however, is that of red eye. During the day or night, it makes no difference, every person in my pictures look demonic. At first when i saw a picture of me taken with my camera, i thought oh dear, my parents were right, they had raised the devil, but i soon discovered, that it was yet another disappointing feature of the camera. The red eye reduction makes no difference so i just leave it off.
I would concur with one of the previous reviews, to make best use of the camera and to get great pictures, you need to read the manual and play around with camera to find all the presets and settings. Once you've played around and gotten used to the presets, getting great pictures out of the camera is easy, and you still don't lost any of the easiness of point n shoot.
Overall opinion - i would recommend anyone shopping for an ultraportable camera and a point n shoot camera to get this one.
