Great pictures, Not Invincible
(Ryan - 3/1/09)I have taken so many photo's with my DSC-T9 , nearly 3000 pictures at this point. I am simply amazed with the quality of photos. Many photo's in my resume and published articles have come from this camera, and not an expensive studio model. People are so amazed when I answer them that the spreads were produced using a handheld. Storing, uploading, and accessing the files is a breeze... This download system has really made my life easy- especially with the seamless compatibility with Apples iPhoto's on OSX. Battery life is decent for use.
Now onto the negatives, which I am sad to say it has a few. The digital zoom is "toothy" in that it doesn't do well with clarity in the zoom function. This is where a unit with a mechanical lense will excel. Secondly the anti-shake stabilization hardware has a knack of jamming, effectively leaving your unit useless. Popping the battery out and restarting it while holding down the "hands" button on the top right until it stops shaking will fix this temporarily. You may need to do this each time it is turned on. Until I learned this trick I lost about 500 shots that were sorely missed.
Overall I feel it is a great unit, but has a couple design flaws that may have been addressed in later models.
