I am thinking of buying the Sony T9. But the "red-eye" effect seems to be a problem. Is this the case? And what about other ultra compact camera's? Tx

Hi,
I have not seen nor heard about a camera that eliminates the red eye effect. The technology is just not that far yet. So it would not make a sense to choose a camera by the red eye reduction feature. To eliminate the red eye you have to use a picture editing software. Photoshop Elements does this job 100% and in most cases even automatically.
About other ultra compact cameras... The smaller camera, the smaller lens. The smaller lens, the worse quality. So if the goal is better pictures then forget about ultra small equipment.

Thnx a lot!

I do not know a lot about camera's. The T9 would be my first camera. So correct me if I am wrong: you only get the red eyes when using the flash, right?

Hi Ardie

I have recently joined this fab site. Excuse my ignorance but I thought the principle reason for the quality of pictures came from the pixel size? Is this not the case? I bought a DSC-T9 and have noticed that this camera has 6m pixels whereas my previous camera an Olympus mju 400 only had 3m pixels but took far better quality pictures the the Sony - so should my next camera be a larger one and not a compact?
