How to get picture in display?

Can't get a picture in the display after it is turned on. It had niteshoot turned on by accident before hand. Now it is like taking a picture in the dark. I have pushed the reset button but get nothing. Any ideas on fixing it. I have a Sony Cyber-shot 5.0 DSC-V1

The manual says there is a NightShot/NightFraming lever on the top of the camera which should be set to the solid black circle. Here's the Sony Manual Page for the V1.
