blurry pictures and now the lense won't open

( - 6/20/06)

This is my second cyber shot, also my daughter has one. I dropped the first, and the lens stopped working. It was time for a new one anyway, so I got the newer model, the DSC-W1. Well ... as I have read here, it picked up the slightest of movements and showed trails. I was trying to take pictures for an elementary school yearbook, half the pictures (and that's being generous) came out blurry.

The other day I was taking pictures of my cat. Of course the camera takes so long to focus that by the time the picture snaps, the cat is looking away. And then, out of the blue, the lens died. It won't open properly and now I can't use the camera. I will have to dig for the box, but I am quite sure I don't have the receipt. It's probably two years old now.

I would not buy another Sony aside from the fact that we have all Sony computers and TVs. Apparently dropping the first one was not the only reason the lens developed issues.
