shutter release

I dropped my inlaws camera and the shutter release broke... where can I get a replacement??

SONY. You could see if you can find a parts camera on eBay, but you're really better off having SONY repair it. But understand that with it's age, it's probably just going to be cheaper to replace the camera. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

Hi,
I actually found the shutter bar for about 9.00 and I downloaded the camera manual and the service manual from internet at no cost...
so, I am ready to fix it on my own.. If I was able to change the front glass of an iPhone which everyone says it can't be done.. then I am ready to try this new adventure!! if not I can always buy a new camera :)
i think if I contact Sony it would be way way to expensive!!

Wow. There's a story in the iPhone repair, I'm sure. Maybe you've found a true calling.

And yes, with the average camera repair $180, you bet it's cheaper to get another camera.
