E61 error Sony Camers

E61 is a lens error. It could be due to the lens being knocked out of alignment, or more likely that the camera batteries simply aren't strong enough to power the camera. if you're using heavy duty or even alkalines, they aren't powerful enough. Try something with a higher mAh, and make sure that the battery contacts are clean. use a pencil eraser and rub the contacts until any residual gunk is cleaned off.

Outside of that, with the age of this camera, you may be talking about a CCD failure.
