I m also getting error 'turn off and on again" message

I tried pushing the lens in multi times and pulling the lens and giving a gentle twist but haven't had success fixing problem. Has anyone had luck having this repaired at a camera shop? if so what did it cost. I contacted Sony and they gave me a rough quote of $118. That seemed high to me. I'd rather invest that amount in a new camera. I like this camera and would like to fix it if it is reasonable.

Hi Julie,

$118 is about par for the course for a factory repair, but yes it's rather high in an absolute sense (given the original purchase price of the camera and how much it has depreciated). These high repair prices are, I believe, at least partially a marketing maneuver to get customers to buy new cameras rather than repairing old ones. It's both more lucrative and less work for the manufacturer.

As far as I know, local camera shops aren't generally equipped to repair these sorts of errors, though I can't say that with absolute certainty in every case.

Good luck!
