I have an intermittent mode switch (1 position only) is there any quick fix, or do I need to clean or replace the switch.

The camera is about 4 years old and has mainly been used on the Auto mode which is now intermittent, all other modes are ok.

It sounds like it needs to be cleaned. Could be you need to take some canned air and blow it around the button to clear out anything that is obscuring the connection.

If its a problem with the switch, you may be able to twist the switch back and forth several times (gently) and see if everything will just work itself out. It's weird that it only happens on auto mode as opposed to other modes. Can you describe to us exactly what you mean by "intermittent," I am aware of the definition of the word, but when dealing with cameras its easier to diagnose the problem when we know exactly what is happening, and/or when it is happening.
