Simple things first - check the new batteries to be certain they are good. Very rarely we find new batteries that are DOA. And, of course, be absolutely certain that the batteries are inserted in the correct position.

I am amazed at the incidence of cameras that previously have been working perfectly, are left on the shelf for a while and when turned on again are simply dead. Even my wife's Canon Elan7n film camera died recently with no prior glitches or errors. Just dead. Had to get a whole new (used) body for it 'cause she likes it so much.

There's really nothing else I know to do when a camera refuses to turn on. You might try taking it to a competent repair shop and see if they can trick it somehow into turning on again.

Maybe someone else on this forum has some tricks up their sleeves.
Best wishes for you and good luck.

Also, make sure nothing is impeding the lens. Sometimes, if the lens is not able to come out, then the camera as a whole with not turn on at all, and may not even display a lens error. Also, try to start the camera up in preview mode (or rather, switch to preview mode right as soon as you hit the on button), and see if that works.
