Hi Lisa,

Critical consensus seems to be generally good on the CyberShot W5. Not great, but good. There aren't any widespread problems with the camera, it lasts for a good long while, and it takes reasonable photographs--it just isn't going to set the world on fire with its features or image quality.

It does not have an image stabilization system... it was just a little bit too early to catch on to that craze. It does, however, take rechargeable batteries, so you're in luck there. It accepts AA NiMH batteries (actually comes with two of them, which is a nice bonus you don't get from most manufacturers).

I'd suggest reading some of the user reviews both here and at places like Amazon.com and epinions.com before you make the jump, but it does seem like a solid and reliable camera if you're not really looking for anything flashy. Good luck!
