A good investment

I'm down between getting this H10, the Fuji FinePix S1000fd, the Nikon Coolpix P5100, or Canon Powershot S5 IS. I don't want to end up getting another camera if it fails my expectations and I got tired of compact digital cameras. I read the ratings and reviews and I have a mixed feeling on these cameras.

I really need a camera that can handle high detail for professional-looking model/actor headshoots. Besides that I'll be using it for everyday thing like party pics, friends and family gathering.

Are you looking at those because of budgetary reasons? Because for a little more, you could probably pick up a nice XTi Canon which would work nicely and give you much more flexibility. Better quality too.

The Xti Canon looks great but I'm on a budget, my max spending is $300. As long as the camera doesn't fail at what I needed I won't complain : ) Out of the choices which would be the best?

Well, if you can't afford the XTi, the next best thing may be the Canon S5is. And I used to own a Olympus SP550UZ and found it to be quite capable for that price.

professional looking, high detail portrait head shots, Hate to dissapoint you, but P&S camera (even though not the compact type) will not be able to give you professional...

On the other hand S5 is quite capable, although when it comes to indoor, low light situations, the noise issue will be there... as with all other P&S due to the sensor size...
