Does anyone know how to replace the shutter button on a DSC-H2?

Does anyone know how to replace the shutter button on a DSC-H2? Which piece has to come off to do this - is it the adjoining black plastic piece or the camera has to be dismantled from behind fully? Please respond as to how exactly to do this step by step.

Well, frankly, it's such a minor repair, you could possibly take it into a mom and pop camera store and have it fixed while you wait. And if it's a warranty repair, even better. Have you contacted SONY regarding it?

There are camera repair manuals floating around the web. Do a google search. And hopefully, one of our intrepid advisors can find it for you, he's quite good at that.

Hello James, Do you know exactly how it is done? I know the part number. Do you mean, we have to just pop out the old broken button and put the new one in place? Please explain if you know the procedure. Thanks.

Sadly, Nall, I don't know. Which is why I recommended searching for a repair manual. Absent that, taking it in to a mom & pop store.

What is the part number ? Where can I purchase the part from ?

I have the same problem. It just popped off while in the case.

Any luck getting it fixed ?

This is a great camera for what I need just the @#$#@! button.

It is clear to me that the material that the shaft is made out of is too thin, and too weak to be kept under constant tension by the spring that is located beneath it.

My camera was either in use, or in its case. It was treated very gently. I had the camera about 1 year before the button came off.

What you should probably do it check with SONY about a service advisory on this unit. Clearly this is a design flaw and there may be a solution that SONY will correct it for free. And if you can go "en masse" as it were, so much the better.

I purchased the part... Sony has a new part.. to the original part..

I snapped off the old one with my fingers.. One of the tabs broke off.

I took the new part to a camera shop you need a special tool to hold it and twist it in the camera.

Camera works fine with the new part...
