I can't hold shutter halfway down to focus! Am I doing something wrong? When I press the shutter then after a few seconds the camera shots!

It seems that the shutter does not stay halfway down or something... no idea... this is my fist digital camera.

Hi Howler,

That's a pretty strange problem. Are you sure the camera hasn't somehow gotten into manual focus mode? That's the only reason I can think of that it wouldn't autofocus with a half-press, unless the problem is simply that you're pressing too hard.

I have owned the H5 for 18 months and really liked it -- good pictures, plenty of options. Then suddenly, the auto focus stopped working (would not stop half way down as mentioned above) and now the shutter button is off. I researched this on line and find dozens of similar complaints. It is such a nice camera; I hope Sony decides to stand behind it and fix this problem.
