Insides of my H7 shaking!

I recently purchased a slightly used H7 to use for my niece's graduation ceremony (knew I would be sitting up in the stands of the football field and wanted the 15x zoom plus for my son's sports). As I was taking pictures at the grad ceremony, the lens suddenly starting "jumping" around, felt like the insides of the camera were shaking! And I would have to turn the camera off or switch to a different shooting mode (IE from ISO to auto) to get it to stop. Took crap shots because it couldn't focus in when it was doing this. Any ideas of what might be possessing my H7?

It may have an active focusing setting. This is where the lens will constantly focus like a camcorder. Look in your menu settings or simply reinitialize the camera.

James, thank you for replying. I think my "shake" issue is more than the camera auto focusing because it doesn't do this all the time. Seems when the battery gets past 1/2 used and the camera is being used for an extended period of time. The image on the LCD screen literally shakes and the camera can't truly focus on what I'm trying to shoot. I've turned off the image stabilation so that it only comes on when the shutter has been pressed 1/2 way down instead of on continuously but that didn't eliminate it. And the lens motor almost sounds like it is grinding when it starts doing this. Any other suggestions?

Well a grinding noise tells me it's in need of repair, Steph. Was it dropped by chance?

Not dropped by me...have only had a little over a month. It is a refurb, though...was working just fine until I was shooting pics of my niece's HS graduation ceremony last weekend and started the funky blur/shake thing. Almost looks like a movie special effect on the LCD screen and you can feel the insides, which I'm assuming is the lens motor, moving around. I just fully charged up the battery tonight and still doing it with a full charge and the camera set back to it's factory settings. I've searched the web but nothing found for this issue. I did buy a 1 year warranty thru EBay for it, so I guess it will be that route. Thanks so much for trying to help...points awarded! :)

Well, if it's refurb'd it should have the same warranty as a new camera. Talk to SONY and get your camera to them asap.As for your eBay warranty, read the fine print. eBay is dumping ground for "gray market" cameras. This means they may not come with a warranty that is recognized in the US. So make sure that yours isn't one of them.

I bought the SquareTrade warranty for $20 for a year...they will give me what I paid for the item back if not able to fix it. Had a great customer rating; only reason I bought it. I mispoke...not refurb but slightly used from LSIDistributors...they sell seconds where 1 piece might be missing and the box is open/item returned. Stupid me but saved me almost $200 from buying NIB. Thanks for your help, James...I've sent an email to LSI regarding the issue but will most likely be sending it in to SquareTrade for fixing (certain it is a lens motor issue now).

That's not bad. Although I'm not really in favor of buying third party warranties, $20 is a pretty good deal, especially for a "used" camera.
