Rocker Switch Zoom

I am thinking about upgrading to the H9 (from the Sony Cybershot DSC-F828). I like having the zoom ring right on the DSC-F828 lens barrel. It reminds me of a SLR. Are there any pros or cons using the zoom feature with a rocker switch?

I agree the having the zoom on the lens barrel is quite nice, and I do prefer to have it there also. Unfortunately not many ot the digital compact cameras have it. With the zoom ring on the lens, you can zoom right to where you want to so you can frame your shots more precisely. With a rocker switch it is harder to frame the shot quite the way you want it, at least not to the exact framing. The H9 is nice camera, at least from what I have read and I think you will be happy with it despite the zoom difference. I hope this info comes in handy and is of a help to you. happy buying - Josh

Josh . . . never did buy a Sony H9. Am now considering the Panasonc Lumix DMC FZ50 or the Canon S5 IS. Have you had any experience with either one?
