The Canon S5 IS should work just fine. If you're trying to take a picture in a moving car (hopefully not while driving), I would recommend setting the camera to shutter priority mode (the Tv on the dial on the top of the camera). Then adjust the shutter speed to 1/250 of a second or faster, maybe 1/500 of a second. If your photos come out dark, adjust the ISO setting to 1600 to allow more light in. For more helpful hints on use, I would recommend reading the Basic Camera User Guide, then graduate to the Advanced User Guide. I hope this helps. Good luck and happy shooting.

Anhad,

You're probably going to get more out of the Sony H9. It has more optical zoom, a wider range in ISO settings, and the HDTV output settings. I would still set the camera with the same settings to shoot the way you want to.

The Camera should work fine on auto mode, even if you are in a moving car!
Superb camera, I have had mine for about 3 months, and I am very happy with it! Definately better than the H9.
When you get used to the camera's functionality, you can start playing with the different fuctions

I agree with Hans. Stick with the Canon and continue to learn a step at a time doing exactly what you just did.
Step 1 - Try something new.
Step 2 - It doesn't work the way you want it to.
Step 3 - Get help, read your manual, ask questions, go to the camera store and ask questions, read internet forums and ask questions...
Step 4 - Go out next time with new knowledge and new ideas on how to make that shot work for you.
Step 5 - Have lots of fun learning how to get the most out of your camera. You'll be making lots of good memories.
