Does using the Night Shot feature with video use up more of your memory stick?

I took 10 minutes of regular video and then 20 minutes of Night Shot video and after those 20 minutes of NS video, my camera said my 4G memory stick was full. I only had those two videos on my camera, no photographs.

You know, that's an interesting question! The Night Shot mode is, I think, infrared? I suppose in theory the infra red shooting could contain more "information" than typical shots and thus might use up more memory. I have to admit I've never thought about it. It's also possible the resolution is turned up on Night Shot to help cut down on the graininess that naturally occurs in night conditions. Higher resolution would use up more memory.

Brenda has a good point here to your excellent question, Hope. But there may be a workaround. Why not buy or build an IR Camera light? Buy using a separate IR source you can boost the amount of IR light onto your subject and use that additional space for real details and not just dark shadows.
