You can use whatever AA batteries you'd like, but NiMh are probably your best bet :)

As far as memory cards... Sony let's you use any memory card brand you'd like, as long as it's Sony-brand. Haha! Damn Sony's proprietary formats. This camera, as well as all Sony's products, only uses their Sony Duo or Pro Duo cards.

1) NiMH, use any NiMH AA size.1.2 V battery. Go for branded ones, Precharged batteries work great.
2) Sony sell its own memory stick duo, pro duo....now days other reputed companies also sell same memory sticks for half the price. I have used such ones, so I know it works as fine as original sony ones....

Any type of AA battery will work but precharged are the best way to go because you won't have to charge as frequently.

As for the memory card, there is an adapter you can buy that lets you use micro sd cards in cameras that use memory stick pro duo. Micro Sd cards are a lot cheaper than memory stick and the additional benefit is that you can use them in most non sony devices. I use this on my Sony H7 and it works great!
