Is it really worth in professional comparision paying the extra money $$$ to get the T300 instead of T200 ?

I checked out both T200 & T300 and practically the technical differences are very minimal. I'll appreciate if anyone who has used both models extensively inform me ASAP if its really worth paying the extra money to get the T300 instead of T200 ? Is there truly any improvements from T200 in terms of user interface software, actual image quality with same function settings & overall performance ? I'm not eager to spend the extra cash to get the T300 if it actually brings the same user satisfaction as the T200. So please guys, let me know your expert opinions by emailing me at : ireaz2004@yahoo.com ! I must buy a ultra compact digicam by the end of this week.....lol....so PLEASE HURRY UP ! ...Thanks......Reaz

For picture quality, I think there's too much MP here to work with. Let me explain. I came across an interesting article today about how more mega pixels is not necessarily a good thing. According to Image Engineering – a company that does testing of digital cameras for photo magazines in Germany – the quality of digital pictures has steadily decreased since the state of the art was six megapixels back in 2004. And because they don’t have a “dog in this hunt,” they put forth a compelling argument for buying new digital cameras with less mega pixels and not more.

The argument is essentially this: CCD chips on point and shoot cameras a smaller and as such, fitting in more pixels causes them to lose light sensivity. Sure, there’s more data on the chip, but the chip can’t absorb the light data and what it ends up with is a picture that has more noise than image quality. In addition, the more megapixels a camera has, the larger the lens it needs to provide the clarity it deserves and prevent diffraction due to a loss of detail with smaller apertures. But since we’re talking portable point and shoots here, those large lenses simply aren’t being made.

Finally, with larger mega pixels comes longer saving time due to their requires huge storage capacity, or more compression if not storing images in RAW format. The result is a noisier image and a dissatisfied camera user who thirsts for high quality and speed but fell into the trap of "more must mean better."

In the end, relying on a smaller MP that can balance all these needs may indeed be a better answer.

Thanks a lot James ! The information from the article you wrote was really helpful in making my decision on buying a Sony Ultra Slim digicam. Can you also give me your opinion on the newly released NIKON S600 model ? The reviews I've read so far gives S600 very high marks on Image Quality & praises for its sleek design & solid structure.

I've read those same reviews, so all I can do is echo what you already know. But I'd sure love to get ahold of it and test it out to see.

I'm not sure wheather we can discuss about camcorders in this site but since I'm planning to buy a hard disk Sony camcorder early next month, I'd really appreciate your professional advice & opinion on the newly released SONY HDR-SR12 model. I'm quite sure you've already studied details about this model & maybe got a chance to test it out as well. Also do you have any ideas why the prices for new digicams & camcorders vary so much all over the place ? Like most of the order sites on the internet gives the price for Sony HDR-SR12 as $1400.00 where surprisingly I found this model being sold brand new & delivered free with a few additional & optional accessories added for only $819.00 at RAZZPHOTO. [contact info OMMITTED] ... How in the world is this possible especially on products that just came out ? Does Sony Electronics gives different dealers their merchandise at different wholesale rates & even if so then why such a huge difference in margin ? As I'm residing outside of the United States its a little difficult for me to contact RazzPhoto & find out exactly if their SR-12 is the same as the more expensive suppliers on the internet & if they will ship a product overseas if I pay the charges & their assurance of me getting a perfectly working brand new HDR-SR12 with their usual warranty. I'll really appreciate if you can find out these infos for me James ! If you call their toll free number as a potential customer & talk details to a sales rep you'll get the complete pcture ! Hoping to hear from you soon & please let me know if you find this model even cheaper anywhere else too ! Take Care.........

Well, I can tell you this, according to their feedback ratings Razz Photo is a site to AVOID. And here's a few comments:

When ordering the camera they were incredibly forceful about ordering additional, unneeded options and then began informing me that if I did not order these the camera body would be different (untrue).

When checking status on a two-month old, unfulfilled order the representative hung up on me, the second rep transferred me to someone else that was extremely rude, when asking for a supervisor would just pass me around and actually heckled me. A nightmare of an experience. Still trying to get my money back on the canceled order. Do not do business with RazzPhoto!!

Don't buy from razz pho!! Save your money or go to a your local shop and pay a little extra. They are scammers and their service is very bad and the people are very rude.

At some point in the conversation he also said that they would have to charge sales tax because the price was over $3000 (apparently this is why the online pricing comparison site listed "no sales tax"). It was just one more item of complete B*** S***. It was a classic bait and switch, as well as an attempt to unbundled and sell included parts separately to get more than retail.

Don't fall for the unethical practices of this company, their tactics are unethical, illegal, and transparent.

I started googling Razz Photo and ended up at the New York Better Business Bureau and found the follow
ing stats:

Best Price Cameras operates under approx 19 different names, has 22 different phone numbers and 11 different websites names.
As of 04/07/08 - 452 complaints in the last 12 mo., 423 in the past 12-36 mo. for a total of 875 complaints in the past 36mo.

875 complaints in 36 months. These guys are working overtime to screw people over. So remember the old saying ... LET THE BUYER BEWARE.

hey man ! thanks a lot for your infos ! UNBELIEVABLE ! in this day & age ? I mean these bunch of creeps are constantly ripping off customers & no one is taking any aggresive action against them ?? FBI should investigate all reports & reviews & raid their stores ! anyways.....I guess I'll just have to spend a few hundred bucks more & get a HDR-SR12 with the company's supplied standard accessories from a local dealer when the model arrives here ! I'd still love to get a discounted price though if possible ! I'd still appreciate your thoughts & advice on this model ! Also....another problem ! my recently purchased T-series Sony digicam's battery does'nt last long to my shocking disappointment ! the 1st time I fully charged it and according to the owner's manual under specific conditions of course, the cam is supposed to take approx 260 photos but after only 20 pics taken the battery's power ran out....so I took it back to the dealer & he replaced with another one, but this one got drained out after taking about 40 pics.....I mean does Sony Electronics print false claims on their manuals ?? I haven't even used the video function yet & used the flash just a few times with both batteries & got similar disappointing results ! Please tell me honestly....is this a common problem with SONY's NP-BD1 batteries ? is everybody complaining about the charge capacity about this battery ? even if I get a spare I won't be able to reach even a hundred photos even with all the user interface functions set according to Sony's instructions to get the maximum efficiency from this battery model ! please give me a solution as I'm desperately looking for one ! is there any compatible battery model that'll give a much better output ? thanks again for your time & help James !

My first thought is maybe in your zeal to use your new camera you didn't charge it up long enough? Usually that first charge takes about 4-5 hours. As for compatible batteries, the problem with Sonys is that they tend to be reliant on proprietary technology. So make sure you use one that is from an authorized dealer and beware of counterfeits from unknown third parties reps.

If it were me, I'd just return the camera as it seems constant is it. It may have a fault.
