What is wrong with my camera? It shakes horribly!

The images shake north to south.

Are you relying on digital zoom? if so, that's your problem. One of the things about digital zoom is that camera shake is drastically exacerbated. turn off the zoom and see if that helps. Id' also try resetting the camera. Sometimes firmware can get corrupted and a reset to factory defaults can be an easy solution.

It almost appears as if the image stabilization gyros have gone astray. It goes north and south only. It only happens some of the time. I can ususally reset it by putting the camera in a horizontal position. The zoom is all optical.

Very strange. Then I would contact Sony about a repair. There's something wonky in the firmware. Maybe it just needs to get reflashed.
