I have an error message flashing on the LCD panel of my DSC T30 being E 62 10. How can this be rectified?

Bought in July 2006, similar problem last month and the Sony service center attended on it saying that it was a mechanical problem, frustrated with the recurrence. Camera is handled very well.

I too am very careful with my camera, and have just developed the same issue. I have a DSC T-9, purchased around the same time. I suspect it is a programming error. Sony wants to charge to repair it. I also purchased the extra service coverage at Best Buy but they say this does not warrant a repair. I guess they'll be the judge of that.

Erm... I know this is going to sound weird, but trust me- it works (with my DSC T 9 at the very least). If you (gently) hit the battery-flap side of the camera, it makes the error message go away. I dont know how much longer I can take Sony's BS.

According to the Cybershot Manual (available for download here) this is a simple camera malfunction. I'd guess a failure of the firmware to load.

Sony recommends resetting/reinitializing the camera.

Select [OK] with ^ (triangle) on the control button, then press O (circle). The message "initialize all settings Ready?" appears. Select [OK] with ^ (triangle) on the control button, then press O (circle). The settings are reset to default settings.
