what will you advice, DSC N2 vs T50?

I'm considering to buy my first digital camere. I'm deciding between the Sony T series and the DSC n2. I like the large LCD and the touch screen feature. If anyone has any advice???

Between the two, I'd choose the N2. Compared to the T50, it has...

-more megapixels (not the most important thing but a bonus)

-a faster zoom (according to timed tests, the T50 takes almost twice as long to zoom all the way out)

-crisper photos

-comparable image stabilization (the N2 has Super Steady Shot, the T50 has plain Optical stabilization... they seem to perform about the same)

-Buttons are easier to hit/ better placed

-higher ISO available (1600 vs. T50's 1000)

Just seems like a better deal.

The N2 does not have image stabilization at all according to Sony's website here:

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?CategoryName=&ProductSKU=DSCN2&TabName=feature&var2=

The T-50 has multiple image stabilization systems.

You're right Dimitri I cannot find this feature mentioned in any of Sony's media/ websites. Yet almost every review of the camera (including ours) and every site selling it mentions the Super Steady Shot. Not sure on that one. T50= a better deal either way. =)

I want a compact camera that won't give me grief in the red eye department. Cost is not a factor.....just hate red eye.
Any suggestions.

Thanks for any advice.

Pretty much all small cameras suffer a lot from red eye. If you want a slightly cheaper camera, the N1 is pretty much the same camera as the N2 minus a few megapixels and the touchscreen.

Personaly i prefer the t10 to the t50 and i am trying to decide between those two.

N2 also has more manual settings apparently...

Brenda P

In your October 18 review you say you would choose the N2 over the T50, but then in your October 22 comment you say the T50 is a better deal. Which is correct?

Thanks

Sorry about that Rob, I attribute that second comment to a plain old typo. I probably meant to say that the N2 is a better deal either way, even if it does not have image stabilization. I prefer the N2 over the T50 regardless of whether or not it has Sony's Super Shot stabilization or not.

Apologize for the confusion!

Greetings

Is it for definate that the N2 does NOT have an Image Stabiliser ?

In relation to size, which is the most compact (flat) camera, T50 or N2 ?

Or is there another 'slim' camera, nice design, with 10 m pixels along with the latest technological bits (touch screan not important) that can produce the sharpest photos ever?

Best wishes

Angelo

Angelo,
It really looks like there is NOT a stabilizer on the N2. This is ultra-confusing but on Sony's website they do not have it listed as a feature so we are assuming that all the reviews etc. that say that it does have it, are mistaken (and possibly going off each other for info). I would at this point say No. I suppose the only way to know for sure would be to call Sony and ask.

The two cameras are identical in size except the Sony is about .1 inches taller. Both are .9 inches wide.

well i have brought the t50 and i chose it over the n2 because iwhen you have a 10.1 mp camera and a small screen the picture quality becomes bad because all of the pixels are squished ina sinch screen so it should be a reasonable megapixel and reasonable screen example t50

this year I was going on my holiday to Disney, I wanted a camera that is smaller and easier to carry. I dreamed of T50 coz of the touch screen and the paint program. But I changed my mind and bought N2 instead coz of the faster shutter and the pixles. I love doing things in photo shop and once there is more pixlels I can crop the scene that I missed from one of my pic later without ruining it all. I don't know but I like the T50 image style but I'm using the inside quality!
